With a history dating back to 1950, Scandi Standard has, through its subsidiaries Kronfågel AB, Danpo A/S and Scandinavian Standard Norway AS (formerly Cardinal Foods AS), established a strong position as the leading supplier of chicken-based food products in the Scandinavian market.
2013 Lantmännen sells Kronfågel Holding. In connection with the change Cardinal Foods in Norway was also acquired. Scandinavia’s biggest chicken producer formed. Scandi Standard’s activities are now to be found in Sweden, Denmark and Norway.
2011 The Valla plant which was developed over a couple of years was inaugurated in May. The Kristianstad plant was closed for good in October.
2009 In September the restructuring project was announced which involves the discontinuation of the activity in Kristianstad and moving over to, and extension of, the plant in Valla.
2007 Production results were improved and supply reliability returned to Lantmännen Kronfågel’s traditional high level. The export markets recovered after the rises connected with, e.g. bird flu.
2005 Lantmännen buys the Kronfågel Group and provides a capital injection. Spira changes name to Kronfågel Holding. The business was reorganised as a company with joint responsibility for Sweden and Denmark.
2003 Acquisition of Struer in Denmark and Sörmlandskyckling in Sweden. Danpo, Rose Poultry and BHJ form a joint company. Danpo’s factory in Lögstör sold to the new company.
2000 Production of processed chicken products in Skara moved to Denmark. Processing factory in Farre in Denmark completed. Head office in Århus closed and moved to Farre.
1999 Change to the Swedish production in Kristianstad to focusing on frozen products. Gärsnäs factory closed down. Swe-Chick and Kläckeribolaget sold to Svenska Lantmännen. In Denmark the factories in Örbaek and Hammel closed down. New processing factory under construction whereupon the group’s processing capacity is moved from Sweden to Denmark.
1996 The Danish consumers offered salmonella-free chicken for the first time.
1995 Danpo acquired. Goal: to create salmonella-free production in Denmark.
1970 AB Kronfågel formed by Svenska Ägghandelsförbundet together with Sveriges Slakteriförbund. Valla Fjäderfäslakteri is bought.
