The Scandi Way is a strategic framework for sustainable business development that we have developed based on identified priority responsibility and sustainability aspects.
This framework sets the standard for the Group’s joint efforts around sustainability. It fundamentally defines the approach and general goals as well as KPIs for each focus area within People, Chicken and Planet. Every company in the various countries and each operational site within Scandi Standard has the responsibility of complying with the standards set by the framework and to contributing to our goals.
Focus on what truly matters – Materiality analysis
In 2017 Scandi Standard conducted a sustainability materiality analysis to define significant sustainability aspects and risks. The analysis was conducted through an internal process with broad representation of key functions and people from every area of our business.
The analysis was based on assessments of the impact of our operations throughout the value chain, together with stakeholder expectations, our company mission and our strategic goals. Essential value inputs included the knowledge that we have accumulated through stakeholder dialogues, as well as risk analyses, market analyses and external frameworks, such as Agenda 2030 and Global Compact.
Key focus areas were summarised under the following headings: Health, Food safety and hygiene, Animal welfare, Climate and resource efficiency, Good workplace and Good business ethics. These formed the framework for The Scandi Way, with defined focus, level of ambition, targets and KPIs. Maintaining the relevancy of the materiality analysis and ensuring it is up to-date is a continuous process. Results are checked against the company’s standard market and risk analyses, and through dialogue with investors, customers and other stakeholders.
